Dr. Jianyu Zhang is a tuner-track ZJU100 yound professor at Zhejiang University. He obtained his BSc in Chemistry from Sun Yat-sen University in 2019, during which he was admitted to the Mount Everest Plan to begin research training. After that, Dr. Zhang joined Prof. Ben Zhong Tang’s group at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). After obtaining his PhD degree in 2022, he was a postdoctoral fellow at HKUST under the support of the Hong Kong Research Grants Council and collaborates with Prof. Ben Zhong Tang (2022-2023) and a research fellow under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and works with Prof. Ben L. Feringa (2016 Nobel laureate in Chemistry) at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands (2024-2025). His research interests include organic luminescent materials, artificial molecular motors, dynamic chemistry, and computational chemistry for excited-state evolutions. He has published 103 articles, including 37 first/corresponding authored publications in Nat. Photon., J. Am. Chem. Soc. (5), Nat. Commun. (5), Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (5), Adv. Funct. Mater. (2), Nat. Sci. Rev., Adv. Photon., etc. His h-index is 32 with more than 3100 citations. He has delivered 12 oral/invited presentations at international/national conferences. In addition, he has received many renowned honors, including ACS PMES Future Faculty Award (2025), 74th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting Young Scientist (2025), ACS PHYS Young Investigator Award (2024), CAS Future Leaders (2023), Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Fellowships (2023), Hong Kong RGC Postdoctoral Fellowship (2023), HKUST Academic Excellence Award (2022), etc. He is the Promotion Editor for Exploration (Wiley) and Prog. Nat. Sci.: Mater. Int. (Elsevier).
